Quality - was the first and the main characteristic of future Prada, which was started by Mario Prada and his brother as a "Fratelli Prada" store in Milan's grand 19th century Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, where they mostly sold luxury leather travel cases.

Miuccia Prada took over her grandfather's company in 1978, when the company was going through financial problems and loss of clients. Her first success was the iconic black nylon backpack. This handbag was such a hit that she was dubbed one of the 30 most powerful women in Europe according to Wall Street Journal in the 1980s.
Miuccia Prada
Around the same time Miuccia Prada took over the company, she met her future husband Patrizio Bertelli, who took on the role of CEO, while she focused on designing. Miuccia Prada and Patrizio Bertelli were long-time business partners in Prada before deciding to get married!
Miu Miu & Prada
The 1990s were boom years for Prada, which launched its second brand Miu Miu. The line is based on Miuccia's personal style and is known as younger, carefree version of Prada.
